Sanya to upgrade some of its hostels with Li People’s architectural style
The government recently approved a plan for the development of hostels in Sanya between 2012 and 2020. The city’s hostels will be upgraded with different features including Li People's architectural style, especially those in towns, to meet the diverse demands of tourists.
With the completion of the scheme the city will have more than 200 hostels in 2015, offering a total of 1,700 guest rooms and 3,400 beds. By 2020, the total number of hostel swill reach 700, with 5000 guest rooms and over 10,000 beds.
Currently the city’s hostels are mainly found in Dadonghai, Sanya Bay and other coastal areas. In the near future the focus will gradually move towards the towns. By 2020, the hostels in downtown Sanya will account for 30%.
According to local authority, hostels are important complements to the shortage of hotel rooms during the peak tourism season, which can not only appeal to tourists on a lower budget but will also cause Sanya to cope better with the influx of tourists during the holidays.
