World Bridge Series Championships expected to be held in Sanya next year
On the afternoon of June 8th, Mr Jiang Sixian, Sanya’s party secretary, met with the president of the World Bridge Federation Mr Gianarrigo Rona at Sheraton Sanya Resort in Yalong Bay. Both sides exchanged ideas for Sanya's bid for the 2014 World Bridge Series Championships.
Mr. Jiang extended a warm welcome to Mr Rona, and said that Sanya has the perfect service and guarantee system as well as rich experience and a proven track record in hosting bridge events.
Mr Rona expressed his support for Sanya’s bid for the event and remarked that the World Bridge Federation will try to ensure that the Championships will be held in China. So far, only Poland is known to be bidding for the event.
The World Bridge Series Championships was first held in 1962 and subsequently held in non-leap even years by the World Bridge Federation, and includes World Open Knockout Teams, the Rosenblum Cup, World Women’s Knockout Teams, the McConnell Cup, World Senior’s Knockout Teams, the Rand Cup, World Mixed Swiss Teams, World Mixed Pairs, World Open Pairs, World Women Pairs, World Senior Pairs and the Hiron Trophy.
