On the 5th World Oceans Day on June 8, Sanya Marine and Fisheries Bureau organized volunteers to launch a marine enhancement and releasing volunteer activity in Sanya Bay area to encourage people to protect our ocean.

During the activity, 20,000 golden pomfret seedlings and some sea turtles were released into the Sanya Bay area by more than 100 volunteers wearing the same red uniform.

Boasting rich marine resources, Sanya has a total maritime area of 3500 square kilometers, a total coastline of 259 km, 19 bays and 72 islands.

According to figures released by the Sanya Environmental Protection Bureau, the sea water quality of more than 97% of sea areas reached satisfactory marine water standard levels in 2012.
