Sanya is conducting tough fire prevention inspections in the wake of a fire that raged through a poultry plant in Jilin Province killing 119 people.

The fire safety inspections of densely-populated places like hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues, schools, shopping malls, kindergartens, welfare communities and construction sites as well as labor-intensive workshops are the focus of the campaign.

According to the local authority, those failing to reach safety guidelines must suspend work while improvements are made. The inspection, which started on June 1st, will last for a month.

The inspection campaign aims to bring down the number of accidents as well as deaths caused by accidents
