The Wuyuanhe Culture and Sports Park in the west coastline district of Haikou is expected to open to the public this June, according to the Haikou Municipal Government.

Taking up an area of 200 acres, the core area of the park is structurally ready and further upgrading work and landscape construction are well underway. Besides, the 600-acre sport stadium will start construction this July.

The residential relocation project of Wuyuan, which is being undertaken to enable the transformation of Wuyuanhe into a high-end sports and holiday resort is progressing smoothly.

According to the resettlement project, about 3,633 homes could be built in the area.

With a total investment of 20 billion yuan, the Wuyuanhe project consists of a sports center, a sports park and a series of supporting facilities. The entire project is set to be completed by the end of 2019 and will be capable of holding big cultural and athletic events.
