In order to keep vegetable prices stable and ensure supply, the Sanya government is planning to invest RMB55.5 million into expanding the area of the vegetable base to more than 15,300 acres, and actively promote the production and marketing of fair-price shops.

In 2012, the government invested 68.168 million yuan into the construction of the "vegetable basket" project, which created a 5,000 acre vegetable base, a 3000-square meter seedling base and 300-ton of cold storage facilities.

This year the government will continue to promote the vegetable base’s construction and build 600 acres of vegetable facilities and greenhouses and upgrade 1,460 acres of old vegetable base.

Due to governmental regulations, the vegetable prices in the vegetable fair-price sales areas of 6 major markets in the city are 20% below the normal price, and the prices in the 9 agricultural and sideline products fair-price shops are lower than 15% of the average price.
