The Sanya government decided to reconstruct a road section at Hui village in Pheonix Town to make it a regional modern and ethnic touring area.

This road section, with numerous restaurants on both sides, is famous for its tasty sour fish soup cooked by local Hui people. With rapid tourism development in the city, this outdated old roadway not only is a source of inconvenience for vehicles but also a frequent image burden on the city.

The reconstruction covers a length of 4,638km linking Fenghuang Road leading to the 225 state highway and Jiefang 4th Road with a total investment of nearly 40 million yuan.

The road will be re-paved, slightly widened and additional green belts will be planted and street lamps will be installed to resolve existing lighting issues.

The project will start construction this November and is set to be completed by the end of 2014.
