Sanya’s first emergency shelter is expected to be completed by the end of this year, according to relevant department.

 

The shelter, located in the Mangrove Tree Park, the section between Xinfeng Bridge and Yuechuan Bridge, is designed as a safe haven for local residents in case of disasters such as earthquake.

 

Guided by forward planning and safety considerations, the city has set up two special teams to be engaged in rescue operations in case of an inland earthquake hitting the city or to be dispatched as a national emergency aid unit.

 

Besides, the government will build a seismic observation station in the eastern part of the city to prevent any possible earthquakes in the near future.
