108-meter-tall Nanhai Kwan-Yin Statue celebrates 8th Anniv. in Sanya
On April 25th, the 108-meter-tall Nanhai Kwan-Yin Statue at the Nanshan Tourism Zone welcomes its 8th anniversary, attracting over 11,000 visitors to pray for a blessing in the New Year.
At 10:30am, a blessing ceremony was held by the Nanshan monks and over 1,000 visitors including 50 Buddhists from Thailand.
As the world’s largest and tallest white Kwan-yin Statue, the statue costs 800 million yuan. On April 24, 2005, an unveiling ceremony was held for the Nanhai Kwan-Yin Statue by 108 monks from Hong Kong and Macau in Sanya.
The statue has attracted hundreds of thousands of tourists, becoming a landmark of Hainan tourism.
