Sanya vows to become China’s Capital of Cruise
After being chosen as the cruise homeport by Star Cruises’s SuperStar Aquarius and the China’s largest cruise ship Henna, to open their international cruise routes, Sanya, a city with abundant natural marine resources, has vowed to build itself into the China’s Capital of Cruise.
The world’s leading cruise operators Costa Cruise, Royal Caribbean International Cruise and Star Cruise have operated regular cruise routes to Sanya. According to statistics, the Sanya Phoenix International Cruise Terminal has received more than 600 international cruise ships since 2007.
The current Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal has an 80,000-ton-level dock which has an annual passenger capacity of over 600,000. Phase II of the project will add a two 150,000-ton-level dock and a 225,000-ton-level dock to the terminal.
Besides, the Sanya government is planning to offer financial subsidies to cruise companies which use Sanya as a homeport from which to operate their international cruise routes. According to the proposal, cruise companies which operate cruise liners that have Sanya as their homeport for at least a year, will receive a subsidy of 50,000 yuan for each voyage.
