Sanya tops China’s most popular tourist destinations for May Day holiday
As the May Day holiday (from 29th April to 1st May) approaches, China’s inbound tourism market has witnessed a surge in bookings.
According to Qunar.com, a leading travel portal in China, Xiamen was still amongst China’s most popular tourist destinations for holiday-makers based on web browsing and search results.
Sanya, a seaside tropical city in Hainan province, snatches first place, followed by Lijiang, Jiuzhaigou, Guilin, Zhangjiajie, Hangzhou, Huangshan, Wuyuan, Yangshuo and Xiamen.
Meanwhile, affected by the H7N9 flu outbreak fears and Sichuan Ya’an earthquake, the bookings of domestic tourist routes heading to East China have seen a slump.
