With less than one week left until the May Day holiday, car rental businesses in domestic cities are expecting a boom while the demand in Sanya remains flat.

Mr. Wang, a car rental worker in the Dadonghai area said that his company has not seen a remarkable increase in the number of people booking cars for this year’s May Day holiday over last year as many domestic tourists are choosing to travel to neighboring cities rather than Sanya during the 3-day holiday.

In fact, some car rental companies have even seen a sharp decline in business, with rental rates standing at 15%, half less than the figure in March.

Besides, the rental fee does not increase greatly as the holiday nears. The low-grade models can be booked at a price of 100 yuan to 200 yuan per day, middle-range models like Camrys and Buicks cost from 200 yuan to 300 yuan and high-grade models for a price ranging from 300 yuan to 1,000 yuan.
