The Sanya Red Cross sent a disaster emergency rescue team to help authorities with search and rescue efforts in the aftermath of a 7.0 magnitude earthquake in an area of southwestern Sichuan Province on April 20.

The emergency team consisted of 8 volunteers from all walks of life, who have previously participated in many rescue missions. Obtaining a plenty of professional training, the rescue team can guarantee the efficiency of the rescue work.

In affected areas, the rescue team has helped save a total of 36 people from the earthquake-related disasters. The team also provided victims with supplies of food, water and medicine.

Concerning Sicuan’s earthquake victims and their need of help to rebuild their families, Sanya Red Cross has made a donation of 1.08 million yuan to the quake-hit areas.
