The mayor of the Croatian Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik, Andro Vlahusic, and the mayor of the Chinese city of Sanya on the Hainan Island, Wang Yong, on Monday signed a charter on cooperation between these two cities.

In attendance at the charter-signing ceremony was Chinese Ambassador Shen Zhifei.
 
Dubrovnik and Sanya are committed to developing their cooperation in the economy, culture and tourism.
 
Sanya has some 680,000 inhabitants, living in an area of 1,919.58 square kilometres. The city is renowned for its tropical climate and has emerged as a popular tourist destination, catering for 11 million tourists every year.
