Sanya to adjust bus routes & set up state-owned public transportation group
The Sanya’s transport authority plans to adjust exiting bus lines due to overlapping in the central area and a shortage of lines around the edge of the urban core and is seeking public opinion.
At present, there are 10 bus companies operating in Sanya, operating 37 bus routes including 5 mini bus routes, which carry 92 million passengers annually.
Some local residents have suggested that the government should intensify the frequency of buses on the No. 9, 12, 20, 27 lines and open new routes to scenic sites, which would allow tourists to spend more time enjoying their trip and shopping.
Besides, the government is also considering setting up a state-owned public transportation enterprise to improve the city’s public transport system and bus service.
Relevant departments are now in the process of assessing comments and suggestions before any final decisions are made.
