Sanya Serenity Marina

As the host city of a series of international sailing events, Sanya is taking its chance to build up its reputation as a sailing capital in China.

With 209 kilometers of beautiful coastline and 19 natural harbors, Sanya boasts extremely favorable conditions to help it develop into a first-class sailing city.

In recent years, Sanya has hosted the most international sailing regattas in all of Asia, including the Volvo Ocean Race, Round Hainan Island International Regatta and Hong Kong-Sanya International Sailing Competition

Sanya was the second city after Qingdao in China to host the Volvo Ocean Race, in the 2011-12 event, attracting tens of thousands of visitors. The event has also drawn more international attention to the city’s ideal sailing conditions. Early this month, Sanya was announced as part of host cities once again for the Volvo Ocean Race for 2014-2015

In addition, several international-class venues suited to large sailing events have been built in the city, including Sanya Serenity Marina, Yalong Bay Yacht Club and Sanya Visun Royal International Club.

At present, the Sanya Serenity Marina has 325 full-service berths and its land area occupies an area of 30,000 square meters, equipped with a yacht club, repair and maintenance workshops and a sailing training school. All these essential facilities have won it much praise from sailors home and abroad
