President Xi Jinping has inspected the naval force in Sanya, in South China’s Hainan Province, after attending the Boao Forum for Asia.
He extended his well wishes to the PLA Navy, and called on it to contribute to strengthening the country’s forces. The Chinese president reviewed the troops aboard a guided missile destroyer, and inspected several naval vessels. He also talked to representatives of the military officers, and had lunch together with the sailors.
Xi Jinping also listened to a report on the Navy’s work, commending it for its achievements in recent years. He stressed that the military’s major task is to focus on building its preparedness for real combat situations. He also called on the Navy’s Party committees at all levels to play a bigger role in strengthening the military.
