The restoration of Haikou Qilou Street has been listed among the key national special cultural projects for 2014.

The Qilou Old Street, a famous street in Haikou with a history of more than a century, featuring multi-story Southeast Asian style buildings that integrate Chinese and European architectural styles, has been listed as one of China’s famous historic streets.

In December 2008, the government approved the protection and comprehensive restoration plan of the Haikou arcade buildings.

Ten arcade buildings on Haikou Shuixiangkou Street have opened to the public after a series of renovations and renovations on other arcade buildings on Zhongshan Road, Boai North Road, Xinhua North Road and Jiefang East Road have now been completed as well.

Haikou is striving to turn Qilou Old Street into a commercial center as well as a cultural tourism and shopping center. It is expected to become a new popular spot in Haikou.
