Hundreds of ID cards are found in Sanya River and Linchunhe River every year, according to Sanya sanitation workers.

Zhang Xiongqing, a local sanitation worker said that in recent days he has fished out more than 30 ID cards out of the Sanya River, which had owners hailing from Hainan, Jiangsu, Chongqing, Hebei and Hunan, and some of them just got their ID cards few months ago.

Most of these ID cards were found in wallets, alongside other bank cards as well as driving licenses.

Sanitation workers said that they were most likely dumped into rivers by pickpockets and thieves. They will continue to fish around the river. If possible, they will get in touch with the cards’ owners and return their cards to them as soon as possible.
