A citywide campaign jointly organized by local Sanya government departments to mark the World Consumer Rights Day was held at Mingzhu Plaza, Sanya on the morning of March 15.

During the day, consultation booths were set up by the local commerce and industry authorities and consumer associations at major shopping centers, supermarkets, large-scale residential communities and public squares to deal with consumers’ complaints and offer consultations to customers onsite.

In addition, the authority has made use of promotional screens at busy intersections to broadcast public service announcements and raise public awareness of consumer rights issues.

In 2012, the authority received 4,247 complaints. Catering, accommodation, garments and telecommunication products topped the complaints list.

The authority will conduct regular supervision activities at a wide range of businesses to strengthen the protection of consumers' rights.
