Starting from March 15, motorcycle riders who are caught driving motorcycles in restricted areas including Jiefang Road, Yinbing Road and Sanya Bay Road will receive fines of up to 2,000 yuan, according to new regulations introduced by the Sanya Police Station.

Motor vehicles, including two-wheel conventional motorcycles, tricycles, lightweight motorcycles and illegally assembled motorcycles, are banned on certain public roads.

Motorcycle riders can also be fined up to 500 yuan, and even incarcerated for between 5 and 10 days for deliberately flouting traffic rules.

In addition, motorcycle riders caught without a license will face fines of up to 2,000 yuan and be detained for up to 15 days.
