Sanya started the reconstruction project of wastewater separation in the areas of Sanya River and Sanya Bay at the end of 2012, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.

The project aims to achieve rain and sewage separation, and a new 22.73-kilometer main sewer and a 395-meter rain pipe will be built in 4 road sections of the Hedong and Hexi districts. The government will arrange for workers to clean the 10,373-meter rain pipe.

In addition, the government will build a 22.2-kilometer sewer in 12 road sections and rebuild the 0.85-kilometer sewer in 4 road sections of Sanya Bay.

Moreover, in the New City Road of Sanya Bay, a new 1,632-meter rain pipe will be built, a 3,032-meter rain pipe which can not meet the requirements will be rebuilt and an 11.6-kilometer rain pipe will be cleaned.

The project will perfect the water drainage abilities of Sanya city.
