In response to the recent report on the Chinese government allowing cashless gambling to be introduced in Sanya, the local cultures and sports bureau made it clear on Feb 18 that they have never approved any type of gambling activity to be held in the city.

According to relevant news, Jesters Casino Bar, part of the newly opened Mangrove Tree Resort World at Sanya Bay has introduced a new gambling concept, which involves winners at the casino not receiving cash, only points that they can use to pay for accommodation, luxury goods, jewelry and artwork for sale at the resort.

The local police bureau, partnered with the industrial and commercial bureau, has launched an investigation on the alleged casino bar at the resort and shut down the business.

The bureau said they will strictly monitor and stop business activities that violate related laws and regulations at the resort.

Mangrove Tree Resort World, the newest addition to Hainan’s rapidly developing hotel scene, will be China’s biggest resort when construction is completed in 2014.
