Sustainable and fast tourism economic growth in Sanya is enticing more and more foreigners to work in this leading coastal tourism industry city.

Nearly 1,000 foreigners currently work in Sanya in hotels, travel agents and universities according to the latest statistics provided by the Sanya Municipal Labor and Social Security Bureau.

The registered number of foreigners working in Sanya has been rapidly rising in recent years. By the end of last year, a total of 927 foreigners had registered to work in Sanya, far more than the 760 in 2011.

The Philippines, Ukraine, Thailand and Russia are the top four countries of workers’ origins, with Russia number one.

Dadonghai is known as one of the regions where many foreigners settle. About 120 foreigners live and work in the Dadonghai area.
 
Outside of tourism circles, foreigners are becoming an increasingly important part of the social fabric of Sanya with their varied contributions and dedication greatly benefitting the international tourism island
