Flights leaving Haikou or Sanya for other major cities have been booked out with the end of Spring Festival holiday.

On Feb 15 alone, more than 55,000 passengers passed through the airport and the number of flights taking off and arriving at the airport reached 600.

According to online air booking information from major airline companies, all air tickets on Feb 15 and Feb 16 from Sanya to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen were sold out. To ensure passengers can get back their hometowns smoothly, China Southern Airlines has added 20 more flights to Guangzhou and Beijing.

Traveling to Sanya remains popular until around Feb 24 and getting a ticket seems almost impossible since demand remains so high.

Airline companies have suggested that tourists can take transfer flights to avoid the bother of traveling and of rising ticket prices.
