Xiamen ranks second after Sanya in a list of hot destinations for the 2013 Spring Festival travel in China released by ctrip.com, a leading travel portal in China, on Thursday.

The data provided by the website shows that Sanya, a tropical tourist city in Hainan Province, remains the most popular place for holidaymakers, followed by Xiamen, Beijing, Lijiang, Guilin, Kunming, Harbin and Chengdu.

Thanks to the Chinese comedy film “Lost in Thailand”, which was shown in December last year and broke all-time box office records in mainland China by earning RMB 1.24 billion, Thailand is the most preferred outbound tourist destination for the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday, the website said.
