With the approaching Spring Festival, many tourists rushed to Sanya, making it the most popular destination in China during the holiday season.

Statistics from Ctrip.com showed that tourists from 60 domestic cities have booked the online tour products including private tours, group tours and half self-service tours to 220 destinations all over the world.

Aside from Sanya, the other domestic hottest destinations for holidaymakers include Xiamen, Lijiang, Changbaishan Mountain.

After the government issued harsh restrictions on hotel room rates, this year, the number of tourists booking private tour products has increased 20 to 30% over the same period of last year.

In terms of outbound travel, Thailand has become the first choice destination for Chinese tourists. The number of domestic tourists heading for Thailand saw a sharp increase of 100% year on year.

Meanwhile, other burgeoning tourist resorts including Koh Samui and Chiang Mai in Thailand have come to the fore.
