With more Chinese in Sanya getting behind the wheel to celebrate the traditional Spring Festival, housekeepers are in high demand during the holiday season.

According to the city’s ‘95081’ Family Service Center, they have received 304 enquiries by telephone but have only been able to process 175 orders as they have no more than 100 housekeepers and nannies available on any given day.

As the number of families seeking housekeepers and nannies surges, the people who usually apply for these jobs have returned their hometown for family reunions, leaving a huge shortfall and sending service fees soaring.

According to the domestic service providers, the hourly wages of housekeepers and nannies have increased from 40 yuan to 60 yuan with the approaching of the holiday.
