Statistics from the Hainan provincial government showed that the average room rate of the 267 hotels in Sanya is 2,873 yuan per night during the 2013 Spring Festival holiday, a 15.7% decrease from the previous year.

In addition to villas and suites, 38,087 rooms across the city are subject to the price controls, accounting for 85% of the total number.

Released information shows that rooms with rates below 3,000 yuan and 2,000 yuan account for 54.8% and 43.6% of total room numbers respectively.

High-end rooms with rates above 5,000 yuan only accounted 9.1% of the total room numbers.

Hotel room rates in Hainan during the major Chinese public holidays remain stable following recent moves by the provincial government to curb price hikes by hoteliers.
