Sanya tops most popular destinations in China for New Year holiday
After the government announced the schedule for the New Year holidays, the public were pleased to discover they could take a single day off to enjoy a six-day patchwork holiday with three-day New Year holidays and two weekend days, which they call it a 'small Golden Week'.
According to Ctrip.com, China’s largest online travel site, Sanya has taken the top spot among the popular domestic destinations, followed by Xiamen, Lijiang, Beijing, Guilin, Chengdu, Harbin, Kunming and Xian.
Over half of the bookings for inbound and outbound tourism during the New Year holidays come from people enjoying a six-day patchwork holiday, with December 28 – 30 the hottest period.
Popular destinations for outbound tourism include Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seoul, Phuket, Singapore and Cambodia.
