Hainan Int’l Tourism Island listed as key Chinese tourism development goal
China’s State Council issued the 12th Five-year Plan for service industry on December 13, and the construction of Hainan International Tourism Island was listed as one of four keys national tourism development objectives.
Under the plan, the government will improve the market regulation and internationalization level of the management, marketing, service and product development of Hainan tourism industry. These include perfecting the infrastructure and service facility for tourism, developing the special tourist products and regulating the tourism market.
According to Mr. Qi Hongchao, the Deputy Director of the Hainan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, as Hainan is China’s biggest economic special zone, the construction of Hainan as an International Tourism Destination is a national strategy made by the State Council which will be the pioneer of China's reform and opening up. Hainan will become an experimental area for innovations in China's tourism industry.
