Haikou has officially put 7-star hotel construction plans on the agenda and three 7-star super properties will possibly be seen in China in 5 years.

According to the local authorities, these top luxury 7-star hotels will be built on the artificial islands.

Haikou Millennium Hotel, located 268 meters from the West Coastline, is built on an artificial island which takes up 6.02 hectares.

With a total investment of 2.8 billion yuan, the 300-meter-high hotel will have 108 floors, featuring over 1,000 luxury guest rooms. The 7-star project is expected to be completed by 2015 and become a tourism landmark in Haikou.
