On the afternoon of December 4th, Mr Jiang Sixian, Sanya’s party secretary, met with the executive director of the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) Paul Boomsma. Both sides exchanged ideas for the hosting of the 2013 International Yatching Festival in Sanya.

Mr. Jiang extended a warm welcome to Paul Boomsma, and said that a detailed plan and general introduction by Mr. Paul Boomsma would help the government better understand and to be more confident with planning the event. Sanya has experience of hosting similar sea sporting events such as the Volvo Ocean Race and Hainan Rendez-Vous.

As for the proposal of a time schedule arranged during the National Day holidays, Mr. Jiang said that holding the event at later time would be better as there would be a large number of tourists flocking to the city during this period.

Paul Boomsma expressed his gratitude to Sanya’s government for the warm reception and remarked that he believed that Sanya was the best choice of venue for the festival.
