Sanya’s major scenic spots expand parking spaces to embrace peak season
Some of the major scenic spots in Sanya, such as Yalong Bay, Nanshan Tourism Cultural Zone and Tianya Haijiao, are expanding their parking faciliites in order to cope with the influx of visitors during the high seasons.
Yalong Bay is becoming one of the best known scenic spots. When the annual Spring Festival comes round, there is always an endless stream of tourists heading there. This causes a lot of traffic pressure in the surrounding area.
The former five public parking space allotments at Yalong Bay, including the one at Underwater World, can only provide 366 large parking spaces and 664 small spaces, which is insufficient to meet the needs of the rapidly developing Sanya tourism industry.
In order to relieve the traffic pressure at Yalong bay, the newly added parking spaces, which cover an area of 21,567 square meters near the rotary intersection of Yalong Bay, are expected to put into operation by the end of December. This will provide an additional 268 parking places.
Nanshan Cultural Scenic Spot currently holds more than 2,000 parking spaces, and more are still under construction.
Tianya Haijiao scenic spot has also signed contracts for the rental of 103 mu of vacant land in which to build 4000 parking spaces, which will greatly relieve parking woes during Spring Festival.
