Sanya is currently in the process of installing GPS and 3G monitoring devices on a mass public bus to improve the city’s transportation and their services quality.

The systems, consisting of GPS devices and 3G surveillance videos, have been undergoing testing on 4 of the bus lines and will be expanded to 400 vehicles on near 20 lines.

The systems, according to bus companies, will inform passengers of their destinations and help drivers to focus on driving without pressing the bus stop buttons by themselves.

Under the new systems, the monitoring department will better regulate the situation if drivers fail to obey the traffic rules or change another route without permission.

Besides, the new systems will be linked up to local police department, which will allow officials to monitor bus safety in emergency cases.

At present, the city plans to install the systems on 400 buses, which are expected to come into service by next February.
