To improve the efficiency of the road and parking infrastructure, Sanya recently announced a plan to enforce a public parking charge at a total of 3,288 parking sites at 23 major road sections and streets in Hexi Area and Hedong Area.

According to the government, a pay-by-phone method will be introduced to improve the quality of service to the public. Requiring no cash, the pay-by-phone system will allow the owner of the car to pay for their parking charges more quickly and easily.

At the same time, over 100 staff will be stationed at the sites to collect fees via iPads or mobile phones in order to ensure the smooth running of the city’s parking.

By then, 20,000 to 30,000 pieces of preferential rechargeable cards will have been handed out for the trial operation of the new pay-by-phone for public parking.
