Anantara has officially opened its first hideaway in China at one of Asia’s hottest beach destinations, the Sanya Resort & Spa on Hainan Island.

Guests can explore the resort’s stunning surrounds by kayak or bicycle on one of our guided tours; snorkel in a secluded cove; practise their swing at the nearby Luhuitou Golf Club; learn to surf or sail; and experience the rich diversity of traditional folk culture with fascinating guided tours of local villages.
 
The distinct Hainanese culture that shrouds the island is what makes the area unique. Traditional hand-woven artifacts are a sight to behold, as are dance, music and festival traditions of the indigenous Li clan tribe. The women are known for their unique tattooed faces, an age-old tradition born through wanting to protect the most beautiful women in China from being kidnapped.
 
Within the elegant resort itself, a bevy of other activities are available, from pearl-infused spa treatments and Tai Chi to Hainanese cooking classes and wine and tea guru journeys. Otherwise, guests can take a dip in the pool oasis; enjoy a dinner on the pavilion made with the region’s freshest local produce and seafood; or simply relax in the lush gardens.
