Sanya to embrace its peak MICE tourism season starting Nov
Many travel agencies and hotels based in Sanya have been pleased that Sanya's winter tourism market is picking up, as the city has been seeing a large number of MICE and individual private tours since November.
Reservations through travel agencies have had been higher than last year. As the northern areas of China get colder, many tourists from these areas choose to travel to Sanya to get away from the cold weather. It is expected that Sanya and other areas in Hainan will receive more ‘snow birds’, those who choose to spend their winter holiday in Sanya.
MICE groups have been a new guest source to benefit hotels, in addition to traditional individual tourists and tour groups. In order to meet the increasing demands, many hotels have shortened their MICE tour reservations to just two weeks in advance.
Currently the costs of travelling to Sanya remain the same as the same period of last year. Many travel agents have said that prices for hotel and air tickets are expected to increase greatly in the coming winter season.
