Manhunt after hotel staff killed in hit-and-run accident near Yalong Bay
A member of staff at a hotel, named Shendan, who was taking her usual bicycle ride to work on the morning of November 2nd, bled to death after being hit by a car which then fled at road section near Liupan Village on the way to Yalong Bay.
The victim, 23, from Haikou, worked as an accountant at a 5-star hotel in Yalong Bay.
As the hotel is located at the Jiyang Town, Shen bought a bicycle and rode it everyday to the hotel to keep fit, despite the fact that the hotel had arranged shuttle buses to pick up the hotel staff every day.
After learning that his sister was in a severe condition after being hit, and had been sent to the hospital where later she died from her injuries, Shen’s brother took the fastest train from Haikou to Sanya.
Local police have given the case great attention and they are now searching for the driver. However, with the lack of direct witnesses and surveillance video on this road section, the whole case needs further investigation.
According to a taxi driver who was in the area, a red car stopped at the roadside, and two people got out and looked at the victim who was lying in a pool of blood after being struck by the car. He then said that one of them made a call, but he wasn’t sure sure if it was for the emergency services.
The heart-broken family of the victim and more than 100 relatives have also taken action to find those responsible. The family have offered 300,000 yuan as a reward if any useful information can be provided.
