Yacheng Town to be built into a ‘New City’ for southern Sanya
Recently, a new general plan to build Yacheng Town, Jiyang Town and Yucai Town (between 2012-2020) was approved by experts. According to the plan, Yacheng Town will be built into a new city in southern Sanya.
Yacheng Town will be built into a national-level historical and cultural town in China and positioned as an economic engine for the development of western regions.
The construction plan for Yacheng Town will highlight three main functions: a tourist base for the South China Sea, a regional hub for port and rail logistics for the South China Sea, and a hub for emerging industries, marine tourism, tropical agriculture, and marine services.
Aside from this, Jiyang Town will be turned into an ecological town, integrating leisure tourism, military port services and the environmental protection industry. More focus will also be directed towards building Yucai Town, in the north part of Sanya, into a tourist base with Li and Miao ethnic flavors.
