On November 1st a chartered flight carrying 63 passengers from St. Petersburg landed at the Sanya Phoenix International Airport, marking the official resumption of flights between the two cities.

To further explore the Russian market, Hainan organized special tourism promotion activities in St. Petersburg in the middle of October. An agreement was signed between Russia’s largest airline, Continental Airways, and the Sanya Friendship Int. Travel Agency to reopen chartered flights between St. Petersburg and Sanya.

There will be one flight every 10 days from St. Petersburg to Sanya on the Boeing 767, running until next May when the contract for chartered flight terminates. The flight will have a passenger capacity of 263.

Many tourists are showing great interest in the new flight route and the inaugural flight has been booked out, said a spokesperson at the St. Petersburg travel agency. The route will bring 5,000 middle and high-end tourists to Hainan, deepening cooperation and tourism exchanges between St. Petersburg and Hainan.
