China’s 1st 1.5 MW solar-thermal power project put into operation in Hainan
The nation’s first 1.5 MW solar-thermal power project was put into operation on October 30, 2012 in Sanya.
Occupying a land area of 10,000 sqm, the project is located at Nanshan Industry Development Zone in Yacheng County, Sanya. The technology makes use of the concentrated heat from the sun’s rays, which can be heated up to 400 ℃. The thermal energy harvested from the solar field is then converted into electrical energy.
The system will reduce the size and cost of traditional natural gas, with more than 55% heat conversion efficiency.
It is first ocean natural gas power plant in China, boasting the ability to generate 1 million degrees of electricity annually and reducing by 900 tons the amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere each year.
