According to Haikou’s tourism departments, 14 major scenic spots in the city received a total of 195,000 tourists during the Hainan Carnival and the New Year holiday from December 29th 2013 to January 1st 2014, with the total retail sales of consumer goods reaching about 530 million yuan.

Amongst them, the newly-built Mission Hills Huayi Brothers Fengxiaogang Movie Theme Town was the most popular scenic attraction, its first project, 1942 Street (Republican China Street), features the streets and architecture of Chongqing in the Republic China period as the backdrop, and it received 54,000 tourists and 12,825 cars occupied by tourists in just four days since its opening.

Aside from the Movie Theme Town, the famous historical site Xiuying Fort, which was just officially opened to the public on December 30th 2013, was also very popular, receiving 7,400 tourists within a period of only three days.
