Typhoon Son-Tinh causes direct economic loss of RMB300m in Sanya
Information has been released stating that as of the 28th October the Typhoon Son-Tinh has affected a total of 250,000 people in Sanya, and caused a direct economic loss of more than 300 million yuan, according to the Sanya authorities yesterday.
A total of 12,050 people have been evacuated to safety, and 25,300 people have been removed to temporary shelters.
Nearly 28,000 acres of cropland with 6,200 tons of crops, and 1,930 tons of aquatic products have been destroyed by the typhoon. In addition to this, roads and power supplies in Sanya have also been badly affected.
Statistics have shown that the direct economic loss to Sanya has hit 324.5 million yuan. Specifically, the agricultural economic loss which stands at 189.5 million yuan, the industrial and transportation economic loss which stands at 85 million yuan and a water conservancy project economic loss of 50 million yuan.
