Two fishermen were rescued and five are still missing after four local fishing boats separated as Typhoon Son-Tinh hit the South China Sea near Sanya, according to local maritime officials.

On October 27th, the local sea rescue center received a report saying that a vessel had experienced a mechanical failure near a cargo terminal of Sanya after being hit by strong winds.

The two crew members waited nearly 25 hours before they were spotted by the searching helicopter near the Xigu Island at 3:00pm Sunday.

Currently the other four vessels with five fishermen on board are still missing and rescue vessels and helicopters are taking part in an ongoing search for them.
