New rules on Quarantine of Articles for Entry-Exit Passengers to take effect
New administrative measures for the Quarantine of Articles Carried by Entry and Exit Passengers will be implemented on 1st November, replacing the existing regulation with the same name.
According to an official of AQSIQ, significant changes have been made in the new rules. Agricultural gene modified organisms (GMO) and endangered wild plants and animal species and products thereof are now included in the quarantine list.
The new rules decree that pets carried by entering passengers are limited to dogs or cats. Each person is allowed to carry one at a time. Depending on their origin (rabies-endemic area or non-rabies-endemic area), pets will be treated differently.
The new rules also simplify the procedures for transit passengers. According to the regulations, luggage-transiting inspection areas will be set up and articles carried by transit passengers will be directly transited to the domestic flights after being qualified under the quarantine supervision.
