The contestants of the Miss Scuba China 2012 visited the ethnic village of Binglanggu in Sanya on October 22nd.

The women came to the Li and Miao people’s village to explore their ethnic culture and take pictures. They also learned their famous Bamboo Dance during their stay.

One contestant said she was impressed by the culture of the Li and Miao people, the boat-shaped houses and the elderly women with tattooed faces.

The Miss Scuba China competition, part of the Miss Scuba International competition, is not just a beauty pageant but also a campaign to raise awareness of ocean protection and promote scuba diving.

Dayu Prastini Hatmani of Indonesia was crowned as the first Miss Scuba International in 2011.

The final of the Miss Scuba International 2012 is scheduled to be held in Shenzhen in November.
