It has been predicted that the cold weather in North China will drive people in northern cities to travel South; and therefore, with its warm and pleasant weather, the rent in Sanya will continue to rise.

“One-bedroom properties in an average community should cost at least RMB1, 600 per month. This should be higher if the community lies close to the sea,” said Mr. Zhou from Northeast China. He came with his family a few days after national holiday, hoping to find somewhere before the rent rose but failed.

The rise in rent in Sanya goes back to September, when there was an increase of about RMB 200-300 in September over that in July and August.

Besides this, some apartments have even launched special services for elders. The aged from Northeast China are said to be interested in this.

Generally speaking, the foreign population in Sanya has been increasing since late October, and so the rent will continue to increase.
