Recently a plan to build Yacheng Town in Sanya (between 2012-2020) was approved by experts. According to the construction plan, Yacheng Town will be built into a tourist base for the South China Sea.
At the same time Yacheng Town will become a hub for emerging industries, marine tourism, tropical agriculture, and marine services.
As a coastal tourist city, Yacheng Town will also set up a comprehensive traffic system, combining marine traffic, air traffic and high-speed rail.
According to the plan, historical and cultural heritage sites at Yacheng Town will be protected during the development period. The protective range will cover Yacheng city moat, walls and neighboring historical sites with a total area of about 1.94 square kilometers.
