On October 14th a delegation of Sanya municipal government, led by the deputy mayor Gu Jingqi, made a visit to Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia in order to investigate the development situation of basic education, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and seeking international opportunities.

During the trip, the delegation met with John Crawford, the school director of Canadian International School of Hong Kong, which is a leading international school in Aberdeen, Hong Kong. Founded in 1992, the school provides an education for over 2,000 students representing more than 40 nationalities from Pre Reception to Grade 12.

At the meeting, views were exchanged on school schedules and philosophy of education. The delegation was also shown around the campus and teaching facilities, strengthening their knowledge of the international school.

Most recently, the Hong Kong school reached an agreement to build the Canadian International School of Sanya. Covering a floor area of 30,000 square meters, the school is now under construction. Enrollment will start next September. For the occasion, a series of high-quality Canadian-based courses will be provided for every level of education from kindergarten to high school.
